Fine wines are what the romance is made of. Any love story can’t do without wine being involved and in order to make the atmosphere even more romantic, you need to select wines properly. Although the choice of a particular type, year and quality of wine changes from person to person, there are some guidelines that help reach an agreement in conformity with the price.

When it comes to pairing wine with food, the question is which one? Of course you can taste and select wines to find the best pairing; but you can also read some tips to know at least what kind of wine suits better to the certain kind of food. For example, how to select a wine gifts for fish or for stake? There are several basic principles to select wines and the most popular one is – according to categories.

Wines are divided to three major categories: table wines, sparkling wines, and fortified wines. In order to know how to select a wine for dinner, remember that table wines are used with meals. White and red table wines are classified as dry, semidry, semisweet. If you need to select wines for meal remember one simple rule: white meat - white wine, red meat – read wine. That’s why there is nothing easier than to select a wine for fish and seafood; in any case it would be one of the following Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio or Chenin Blanc.

When you taste and select wines, cool the wine to the correct room temperature, i.e. about 52ºF for whites and 65ºF for reds. Fill no more than 1/3 of a glass that should be held by the stem, check for a clear color of wine by looking against a white background. Now gently swirl, sniff, savor the taste and select wines you like the most, but remember that you need to start from light and white wines and then move to the read and sweet ones.
